Destination Friend Raiser – The Caribbean comes to South Boston

Magenta was proud to be a part of the 6th Annual Friends of the Children Gala (www.friendsofthechildrenboston.org) last week. The ‘Destination Friend Raiser’ event drew a crowd of about 300 guests at Artists for Humanity’s Epicenter in South Boston.

The tropical theme of the event set the scene for a fun and casual atmosphere. Vibrant linens in hot colors emphasized the tropical vibe. To keep within the tight décor budget, Magenta designed simple centerpieces that the staff from Friends of the Children could create themselves the morning of the event. Colorful, exotic flowers such as birds of paradise, dendrobium, and Areca palm leaves were used to underscore the theme. A steel drummer provided entertainment during cocktails adding to the mood.

Summer Shack catered the event (www.summershackrestaurant.com), creating a menu with a Caribbean twist. Specialty cocktails were served at the bar thanks to generous donations from Brugal and Absolut – all served with a cocktail umbrella, of course. The evening concluded with a live auction with Queen of the Auctioneers, Kathy Kingston, that offered 9 items and helped the event raise over $250,000.

What part of the world will guests be transported to in 2012??!
